Level 2 Principles of personal development in adult social care settings, enables care assistants and support workers to learn the concepts of personal development and reflective practice, which are fundamental to adult social care roles. Personal development is not just about developing your knowledge, skills and practice at work. It is also about you getting to know yourself, developing a better understanding of who you are, and how what you think, feel and do, impacts on others. In this course, you will have an opportunity to explore your own role, duties and responsibilities. You will learn about the standards, regulations and agreed ways of working that influence how you carry out your role. You will also increase your awareness of personal values, attitudes and beliefs, and learn how to ensure that these do not affect the quality of your work. Personal development involves being able to reflect on your work activities and situations that arise at work and understanding the reasons why this is an important skill to have (as this will help you to develop your knowledge, skills and practice). During the course of the your learning, you will also understand how to assess your own knowledge, skills and understanding in order to meet the required standards. You will also have the opportunity to understand how you agree, contribute and record your own personal development plan (PDP) by working alongside others, and what sources of support you can access. Finally, you will understand the importance of taking feedback on board and how you can record your progress in relation to personal development. When you finish this course, you will complete the following Learning Outcomes 1. Understand what is required for good practice in adult social care roles 2. Understand how learning activities can develop knowledge, skills and understanding 3. Know how a personal development plan can contribute to own learning and development
