The Shift Sacrifice: Most free classroom courses require attendance during standard working hours (9 AM – 5 PM). For a care worker, this means missing a shift. If you earn £12–£15/hour, a single 7-hour day of "free" training actually costs you £84–£105 in lost wages.
The Completion Gap: If the course spans 5 days, you’ve "paid" over £500 in lost income for a "free" certificate. If the course lasts 2 or three weeks, then lost wages can spiral up to £1500.
