Phase 1: The Foundation (Months 1–2)
Role: New to Care
Care Certificate 16 Standards and Level 2 knowledge to ensure safety, legal, and ethically preparation for the workforce.
Month 1: Care Certificate 16 Standards from 1 (Your Role) to 16 (Learning Disability and Autism). Plus Statutory & Mandatory Training (SMT) on Fire Safety, Conflict Resolution, Manual Handling.
Month 2: Knowledge-based elements of Level 2 Adult Care. Bridge the gap between "awareness" and "understanding," with Duty of Care, Personal Development, detailed Safeguarding Principles, etc.
Phase 2: The Practitioner (Months 3–4)
Role: Care or Support Worker
Shifts the focus from knowledge (theory) to the competence and skills required on the floor.
Month 3: Emphasises daily responsibilities, Care Planning, Supporting Distressed Individuals, Implementation of Person-Centred Care, etc.
Month 4: Specialised practical tasks, Infection Control, Medication Administration (and the vital record-keeping involved), and supporting those with Sensory Loss.
Phase 3: The Lead & Specialist (Months 5–7)
Role: Enhanced Care Worker or Personal Assistant
Introduces Level 3 Diploma concepts. Move from a "worker" mindset to a "leader" mindset, to facilitate care, supporting peers.
Month 5: Promoting high-quality care and advocacy such as Effective Communication, Choice, and Independence.
Month 6: Health and safety governance, Risk Management, Infection Prevention, legalities of Duty of Care from a leadership perspective, etc.
Month 7: Tackles complex legal frameworks, e.g. the Mental Capacity Act, Restrictive Practice, and Advance Care Planning. Also learn how to assess vocational knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) at work.
Phase 4: Management & Strategy (Months 8–12)
Role: Supervisor to Registered Manager
Shifts from "Direct Care" to "Business Operations" to run a care service, manage a budget, lead a team, manage the business environment, etc.
Month 8: Administrative training. Learn the "business" side of care, with Business Regulation, Stakeholder Management, IT systems, and Project Management.
Month 9: Team Leadership - Managing People, Finance, and Operational Management, Leadership Styles, etc.
Month 10: Practice Leadership. Lead inclusive practices, professional supervision, CQC Regulations and Fundamental Standards, .
Month 11: Deputy Manager preparation with specialist modules of Level 4 Leadership, covering Governance, Resource Management, and Innovation.
Month 12: Registered Manager (Level 5). Master Strategic Leadership, Quality Management, Recruitment and Selection, Facilitate Coaching and Mentoring, the Visionary Direction, and lead your organisation through CQC Assessments, Monitoring and Regulation.
